What is Concrete Sandblasting?
Even though the process is called concrete sandblasting, it does not actually involve the use of sand.
This abrasive technique is illegal in Australia due to the presence of silica. Concrete sandblasting is a type of abrasive blasting used for surface texturing of hardened concrete. During the procedure, a surface is treated with a stream of abrasive materials under high pressure.
The blast impact depends on the requirements of the surface being treated. It varies from light, through medium to heavy. This process has a number of industrial and residential applications.
It is highly effective for surface preparation as well as roughening or keying a surface. There are many other abrasive agents which can be used for concrete blasting without posing a health hazard. The choice of an appropriate abrasive depends on the particular project and finish required.
